Share our Strength Uses Smartphones to Help Eliminate Child Hunger

Bring your own lunch and use recyclable containers. Making your own instead of ordering a $10 lunch can definitely save pennies, but also, when you make your own lunch in recyclable containers, you help to ensure that plastics won't end up polluting an ocean or river near you.

More than 50% of families who participate in school meal programs struggle to make ends meet during the summer months. In response, Share our Strength is using its No Kid Hungry campaign to help provide kids in need with free meals this summer and with the use of your smartphone you can make a difference in the campaign.

The federal summer meals program is put in place to provide children in need with access to healthy foods when school is out, but unfortunately not every child has access or even knows of the program’s existence.

To help change that, Share our Strength is making today National Text for Summer Meals Day that helps to bring together No Kid Hungry network of chefs, celebrities, community organizations and elected officials to spread the word about the meal program.

In order to join in on the campaign, all you have to do is text FOOD to 877-877 to find a summer meals site in your neighborhood, or share on social media the text graphic with your followers.

Take a stand against child hunger and use your social media platform to make a difference.
