Earlier this week, Mike Tyson made comments on politician Rob Ford’s Canadian mayoral campaign, stating Ford is “the best mayor in Toronto’s history.” When news anchor Nathan Downer recently questioned Tyson about whether his 1992 rape conviction could hurt rather than help, Tyson became infuriated and lost it.

On Canadian network CP24, Downer asked the question which triggered Tyson’s verbal attack. The former heavyweight champion quickly reacted and responded angrily, “Hey, I don’t know who said that. You’re the only one I’ve heard say that….I don’t have no comment to that, you know, because it’s negative and you’re being negative. And I met the mayor. There’s nothing they can do about it.” Tyson then proceeded to continue to insult Downer, including a tirade with expletives.

The interview is making waves online, and one member of the camera crew is actually heard laughing quietly during Tyson’s outburst. Later, Downer wrote on Twitter, “I’m okay everybody. Unfortunately my question hurt Mike Tyson’s feelings. That was not my intentions. My apologies for the language. No ill will toward Mike Tyson. He lashed out at me and that’s okay. Not taking it personally.

Tyson was visiting Canada for his one-man show, Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth, which played at the Air Canada Centre Wednesday night.
