Michelle Obama to Release a ‘Becoming’ Companion Journal

Michelle Obama hasn’t stopped impressing people with her words. According to People, the former first lady is releasing a new project at the end of the year.

Obama’s next book, Becoming: A Guided Journal for Discovering Your Voice, will be released on Nov. 19 and is currently available for pre-order on Amazon. It will be a companion piece to her critically-acclaimed memoir, Becoming, and features an “intimate introduction” from Obama, herself.

The Becoming journal includes more than 150 inspiring questions and quotes that resonate with key themes in Obama’s memoir. It was also designed to help readers reflect on their personal and family history, goals, challenges, dreams, motivation, hopes, and what future they imagine for themselves and their community.

In a statement, Obama explained that she hopes people will use the Becoming journal, “to write down your experiences, thoughts, and feelings, in all their imperfections, and without judgment.” She continued, “We don’t have to remember everything. But everything we remember has value.”

A Spanish language edition of the book, titled BECOMING: Un Diario Guiado, will be published by Plaza & Janes/Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial. The Becoming journal “will have a first printing of 500,000 copies. The journal has a suggested list price of $19.99 in the U.S. and $25.99 in Canada.

Crown Publishing made the announcement on its Twitter page with Obama sharing the retweet on her timeline as well, “What’s your journey of becoming? A companion to BECOMING, this gorgeous journal features an intimate and inspiring introduction by @MichelleObama and thought-provoking questions and prompts to help you discover the power of your own story. Becoming, which was released on Nov. 13, 2018, has sold more than 11.5 million units worldwide across print, digital, and audio formats, including 7.5 million units in the U.S. and Canada alone, and has been published in 45 languages.
