Bathrooms throughout 1 World Trade Center, which is due to open in 2014, are filled with graffiti containing racial and ethnic slurs, the N. Y. Daily News reports.
“Whites only,†reads a message over the urinals in one bathroom. Many messages target President Obama who visited the construction site last June: “Where’s Obama’s birth certificate!!!!â€
“Most of it’s racial,†a source told the N.Y. Daily News. “Most of it – I mean, there’s a lot of stuff with the N-word. But pretty much every race is covered: Spanish people, Irish people, Jewish people, women.â€
“It’s filthy, it’s shocking,†Marie-Anne Sanchez, 37, who was visiting from Paris with her fiancé, told the NY Daily News. “This is a holy place. People died here. I don’t like this. It makes me sad.â€
