White FDNY Firefighters Rally Against Hiring Practice Change

A court ordered change to the New York Fire Department entrance exams has angered some white firefighters who feel they are being discriminated against.

In a fairness hearing held Monday by Judge Nicholas Garaufis, FDNY firefighters expressed frustration with the court mandated fixes to increase diversity.

The entrance exam fix was issued in order to increase the amount of minority hiring for the fire department. The fire department is currently 89% white.
