College-educated white workers still had a relatively low unemployment rate of 3.8% as of March 2009, reports the Economic Policy Institute. The same could not be said for African Americans with four-year degrees; their jobless rate was 7.2%, up 4.5 percentage points since March 2007, before the start of the recession.
