Dylan Lacey
Sophomore, Cyber Security, Benedict College
My name is Dylan Lacey, and I am a dedicated college student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Cybersecurity at Benedict College, with an expected graduation date of December 2028. I am highly motivated to build a career in cybersecurity, specifically focusing on penetration testing and ethical hacking. I hold a CompTIA Security+ certification and am currently working toward my CompTIA A+ certification, further strengthening my foundation in IT and cybersecurity fundamentals.
I am passionate about understanding how systems operate and how vulnerabilities can be exploited and remediated to improve security posture. My academic journey and independent study have allowed me to build knowledge in areas such as cybersecurity best practices, vulnerability assessment, and scripting. I am committed to continuously learning and applying hands-on experience to tackle modern security challenges. Beyond the classroom, I have developed strong professional skills through work experience in customer-facing roles. As a sales associate at Roses and The Freeze, I learned the importance of communication, problem-solving, time management, and teamwork, skills that translate directly into collaborating effectively in cybersecurity projects and hackathon environments.
The BE Smart Hackathon provides an exciting opportunity for me to apply my technical knowledge, collaborate with like-minded individuals, and gain valuable experience working on innovative solutions to real-world problems. I am eager to contribute my growing expertise in cybersecurity while also learning from peers and mentors in the field.
