If you’re a busy traveler on the go, the much-anticipated Apple iWatch may be the perfect companion to ease your travel woes. Along with it’s innovative features like health-monitoring applications and TV remote capabilities, the latest “gadget” to join the Apple family promises to deliver a one stop shop for planning and managing your travels–without ever reaching for your phone. Here are five iWatch apps set to give you a better travel experience.
Hail a Cab — Once you request a ride with Uber, the watch app shows you where the driver is on a map, and then you can place a phone call to the driver.
Book a Room– Use Starwood Hotels iPhone app to book a hotel room. Â As you get closer to your hotel, the watch app sends a notification to your watch. Then once you arrive at the hotel, the app will provide you with your room number and even unlock your room door when you wave your hand over the lock.
Check out Reviews from Travelers — Trip Advisor, one of the best sites for trusted advice from travelers, is another app set to give you a seamless travel experience. By simply tapping your watch, you’ll have access to more than 200 million reviews and opinions covering more than 4.5 million accommodations, restaurants and attractions.
Check into Your Flight, Receive Alerts & Hotel information — You don’t have to be a frequent traveler to know about the stress that comes with flying. American Airlines promises one-tap check-in along with notifications about your boarding gate, departure time, and it even provides the location for collecting your bags. Expedia also joins the stress free promise by providing alerts for upcoming trips and access to detailed flight and hotel information like ratings, locations, phone numbers and addresses.
Find Local Restaurants – The Places Around app can help you find local places and services, such as gas stations, restaurants, ATM machines, and parking. In addition to providing the location operating hours the app allows you to view places on a map that can be used to find directions.
Get Mass-Transit Directions — Using the iPhone App Citymapper, you can access point-to-point directions across several cities.
