Joshua Suggs and Corretta King, the co-founders of Delta’s Restaurant, are the featured Entrepreneurs of the Week on this week’s edition of the Black Enterprise Business Report, hosted by Caroline V. Clarke.
For more than a decade, restaurateurs Suggs and King have kept a vigilant eye on the operating budget and overall finances of Delta’s (www.deltasrestaurant.com) in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The duo’s upscale bar and restaurant brings a Southern-style cuisine and flair to the professional crowd of the central New Jersey college town that’s home to Rutgers University. Their financial tenacity and business acumen has enabled them to make a bold move: In the spring of 2011, they will open a second restaurant in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Our Power Player segment features Richard Dent III, the chief operating officer of Victoria’s Secret PINK line targeting college-aged women. Dent started his career at Ford Motor Company before making his mark at Volvo Trucks as one of the youngest ever global corporate controllers at the age of 27. He later joined Limited Brands, the parent company of Victoria’s Secret, as a financial officer, before being named chief financial officer, and later COO, of the PINK line, which is now in more than 1,000 stores and is also sold online at VSPink.com.
In this week’s Wealth for Life segment Shawn Lytle, head of America’s UBS Global Asset Management, offers tips and guidance on where to invest in 2011. And in our Executive Style segment, the host and correspondents of the Black Enterprise Business Report explore the joys of cooking as a team-building exercise.
