Founded by Victor MacFarlane in 1987, MacFarlane Partners is the largest African American-owned real estate investment and management firm in the U.S. MacFarlane currently manages approximately $9.8 billion–down 51% from the previous year.
The San Francisco-based firm is credited for introducing institutional managers to the concept of urban real estate development during the 1990s. Since its inception, the real estate firm has acquired, managed, and sold real estate assets for clients representing some of the nation’s leading pension plans and institutions.
The firm has invested in several urban properties including the Time Warner Center in New York, as well as the Ladera Shopping Center and the Wilshire Vermont Station in Los Angeles.
The firm operates additional offices in Los Angeles, New York, Washington, D.C. and New Canaan, Connecticut.
