Granite Broadcasting Corp. (No. 9 on the BE INDUSTRIAL/SERVICE 100 list) and Yahoo! Inc., a popular online Internet guide, have joined forces to launch an integrated Internet and broadcast news service in all nine of Granite’s television markets. By logging on and surfing to or corn, Granite audiences can get detailed information on breaking local and national news as well as featured topics of the day, ranging from child safety to community events.

Granite CEO Don Cornwell says the joint venture will provide expanded coverage for their viewers. “Now we can offer additional information on stories that we can only talk about in a limited amount of time on our newscast.”

Granite has broadcast outlets in Fresno/Visalia, California; Peoria/Bloomington, Illinois; Duluth, Minnesota/Superior, Wisconsin; Buffalo, New York; San Jose/ Monterey, California; Fort Wayne, Indiana; Grand Rapids/ Kalamazoo/Battle Creek, Michigan; Syracuse, New York; and Austin, Texas.
