Harlem’s Lenox Lounge closed its doors in December 2012 after a battle over the lease with the club owner and the landlord. The locale was slated to reopen in a few weeks under new management.
One night, Lenox Lounge owner Alvin Reed, removed all the art deco furnishings and fixtures from the spot and took them to a storefront close by. This caused Ricky Edmonds, the landlord, to file a $50 million lawsuit against Reed. He claimed that Reed was ordered to leave all the furnishings and fixtures at the location as they belonged to him.
Now, plans for two versions of Lenox Lounge are unfolding, and no one knows what will eventually happen at that location.
