While museum curators are busy searching for historic Obama-related artifacts to place in the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, Gabby Douglas will be donating a number of Olympic bits to help fill the new historical landmark.
The Huffington Post reports that the 2012 gold medalist is giving the museum a slew of personal items including “the leotard she wore during her first competitive season in 2003, the wrist tape and uneven bar grips she used in the 2012 Olympics, as well as her mother’s ticket to the games, personal photos and her Olympic credentials.”
As the first African-American woman to take home the title in the individual all-around competition, Douglas will be remembered among the many women creating black history.
