Day two of the Black Enterprise Women of Summit ended with legendary moments at the Legacy Awards dinner, hosted by PepsiCo, where Susan L. Taylor, CEO of National CARES Mentoring Movement; award-winning journalist, Charlayne Hunter-Gault; actress and activist Pam Grier; and Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum, president of Spelman College were honored.
Today, attendees woke up bright and early for the Power Cardio Sculpt, hosted by Pepsi Co., and Yoga on the Beach, hosted by State Farm. The first session of the day was “From the Corner Office,” hosted by EMC, where the former CEO of McDonald’s, Don Thompson, was the leading speaker interviewed by Black Enterprise President and CEO Earl “Butch” Graves Jr. Remarks were made by Catherine Okite, manager of IT business consulting andÂ president of the Black Employee Affinity Group Corporate Chapter at EMC.
The Executive Leadership Sessions also began, with a Crisis Management Master Class, hosted by ADP, featuring global crisis expert Judy Smith and remarks by Debbie Dyson, corporate vice president of client experience and continuous improvement at ADP. Attendees stayed connected with their mobile devices and computers at the Power Lounge, hosted by AT&T.
Next was “Creating a Culture of Global Innoversity,” moderated by Rosalind Hudnell, of Intel Corp., featuring panelists Dasha Smith Dwin of Grosvenor Capital Management; Cecilia Carter, of PepsiCo; and Geri Thomas, of Bank of America.
Power women also attended a pivotal Corporate Board Boot Camp, where panelists J. Veronica Biggins of Diversified Search LLC; Dorothy Terrell of FirstCap Advisors; and Deborah C. Wright of Carver Bancorp Inc. discussed how to position yourself for board positions, with moderator Nelda J. Connors of Pine Grove Holdings LLC.
