What is the Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Conference?

The Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Conference hosted by General Motors and ExxonMobil is a three-day business event tailored to both established business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs.

How many people attended the conference last year?
There were more than 1,300 attendees at last year’s conference.

What attire is appropriate for each event?
Business attire is the appropriate attire for Entrepreneurs Conference events. The attire for the opening reception is resort casual. There is usually a formal or semi-formal dinner as well.

Will there be a list of attendees for conference participants?
We will only provide an exhibitor list in the journal.

What are the elements of the conference?
The conference features intensive, hands-on instruction; networking receptions; an awards luncheon and dinner; and a business-to-business expo.

Do you have any sessions for women entrepreneurs?
Yes. By popular demand, our SistersInc. session is geared specifically towards women.

Are there any evening events?
Yes. The conference opens with a welcome reception on Sunday, May 17; and culminates with an awards dinner on Tuesday, May 19.

Can I sit with my party at the awards luncheon?
Yes, if you arrive together. However, attendees are seated randomly on a first-come, first-seated basis.

Are there any incentives for group registration?
Yes. The group registration fee (three or more people) is $345 per person. All reservations must be made at the same time with the same form of payment.

Can I register on-site?
Yes. However, space is limited and you will be charged the late registration fee ($695). It is recommended that you register before April 30.

Does my registration fee include hotel accommodations?
No. Your registration fee includes an attendee bag, event journal, sessions, continental breakfast, networking, receptions, and an awards luncheon and dinner.

BLACK ENTERPRISE has negotiated a special rate of $159+/night (Applicable state and local taxes of 15% will apply) at the Detroit Marriott. Can registered participants attend all the sessions and events?
Registered participants, as designated by registrant badges, will have open access to everything except the VIP receptions.

Can I purchase single tickets for individual events?
Single tickets are only available for the awards dinner. The cost is $295 per person. Tables (seating for 10) are $2,500 each.

Are meals included in the registration package?
Yes. A continental breakfast will be served on Monday and Tuesday. Lunch will be provided at the awards luncheon on Monday.

What if I have to cancel?
BLACK ENTERPRISE will refund your registration fee (minus a $75 processing fee) if the cancellation is received in writing by April 30, 2009. All cancellation requests must be submitted by the original registrants.

If I have already registered but cannot attend, can I send someone else in my place?
BLACK ENTERPRISE will accept a name change if the request is received in writing by April 28, 2009. All name change requests must be submitted by the original registrant.

I’m interested in being a speaker at the conference. Have speakers been selected yet?
Speakers are still being accepted for review. Please click here to fill out the Speaker Application Form, or mail your request (along with your press kit) to Black Enterprise magazine, Events Department, 260 Madison Avenue, 11th Floor, New York, NY 10016.

Will there be an expo this year?
Yes. The expo hall will be open on Monday, May 18 from 2:30pm – 6:00pm, and Tuesday 2:30pm – 6:00pm, May 19. Expo set-up is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Monday, May 18, 8:00 a.m. – Noon.

Will there be an attendee list for exhibitors?
Yes. The list will include the attendees’ names, companies, and cities and states of residence.

Kidpreneur/Teenpreneur Conference
What is the Kidpreneur/Teenpreneur Conference?
The Kidpreneur/Teenpreneur Conference is a fun-filled business program designed for youth ages 7 to 17.

Are there specific age requirements for the program?
The Kidpreneur/Teenpreneur Conference registrants are divided into three groups:

  • Future CEOs (14-17)
  • Junior Executives (11-13)
  • Futurepreneurs (7-10)

What is the registration fee for the Kidpreneur/Teenpreneur Conference?
The Kidpreneur/Teenpreneur Conference registration fee is $295. At least one parent or guardian must be registered for the Entrepreneurs Conference in order for the child to participate in the Kidpreneur/Teenpreneur Conference.

Where is the event held?
The Entrepreneurs Conference will be held at-the Detroit Marriott at Renaissance Center in Detroit, Michigan.

What is the closest airport?
Wayne County Airport (DTW) is the closest airport to the Detroit Marriott at Renaissance Center.

How far is the hotel from the airport?
