Huber Wins WC Skeleton Race; Pikus-Pace Fifth

IGLS, Austria (AP) – Anja Huber has won the final skeleton World Cup event of the season with the fastest time in both heats, and Mellisa Hollingsworth of Canada has won the overall title.

Huber finished in a combined time of 1:49.57 on Friday. Her German teammate Kerstin Szymkowiak moved up from fifth after the first heat to finish second in 1:49.93.

Hollingsworth was third in 1:49.96 for her seventh podium finish in eight starts, and her No. 1 world ranking means she will start first at the Vancouver Olympics next month.

Defending Olympic silver medalist Shelley Rudman of Great Britain finished fourth, followed by American Noelle Pikus-Pace and Marion Trott of Germany.

Rudman finished second in the overall standings. Pikus-Pace finished sixth.
